For Your Prayers:
Please remember Alison Howe & Lisa Lees, murdered in the terrorist attack on May 22nd at the M.E.N Arena. Please pray too for their close family & friends in their deep grief.
Looking outwards, pray that together across our Town, wider area & the whole of our nation, wracked by shock, outrage, terror & grief, that we might all work united togetheer for the common good.
A Message From Bishop David:
I got a message last night to say that two of the victims are members of your congregation, who were collecting their daughters at the Arena. Please would you pass on my condolenced & assurances of prapers to both their individual families & your wider Church Family. This is a truly dreadful time but one where I am proud of the way Manchester has responded so far.
Statement From The Oldham Priest & Imams Grouop On May 23rd:
As a group of Christian & Muslim leaders from across the Faith commuities in Oldham, we want to express our sadness and outrage at the attack in the Manchester Arena on thr 22nd May 2017. Our thoughts & prayers are with the families who have lost loved ones & will continue to feel the pain of loss or many years to come.
Once again we want to say that the actions of those whose purpose is to destroy lives are not representative of any Faith. We urge our communities to refuse to allow this to divide us & to remain committed to respecting & understanding each other's Faith & way of life. We urge our communities to remain United at this time.
A Prayer For Troubled Times:
God of the desolate & despairing,
your son Jesus Christ was forced to carry the instrument of his own death, the cross tha became for us the source of life & healing.
Transform us in our suffering, that in the pain we & so many bear
you might be for us a fount of life & a spring f hope;
through him who dies for us, yet is alive & reigns with you & the Holy Spirit, now & forever.
